Begitu juga dengan pemberontakan Cayaraja yang ditulis dalam kitab Negarakretagama. Kebo Arema sebagai tulang punggung politik ekspansif Kertanegara. Bersama Mahisa Anengah, Kebo Arema juga menaklukkan Kerajaan Pamalayu yang berada di Jambi. Dan bisa menguasai Selat Malaka. Sejarah heroik Kebo Arema memang tidak terdengar. Dalam buku sejarah hanya mencatat Kertanegara sebagai raja terbesar Singosari, dimana pusat pemerintahannya dekat Kota Malang.
